The P-228 first appeared in 1988, and was formally adopted by the U.S. Army as the M-11 Compact Pistol in 1992. However, it was in use amongst Special Forces teams prior to this date. U.S. Army requirements are one stoppage every 882 rounds), this version is fitted with a silencer for covert operations.
