M1A1 Abrams (USA)

The first tank to have Chobham armour (Ceramic blocks/Steel plate) The M1A1 has depleted uranium in it's armoured hull which is an incredibly dense material. Although this makes the M1A1 65 tonnes in weight, it is the most heavily armoured tank in the world.

T-62 (Russia)

Armament: 115mm smoothbore gun, NSV Heavy Machine Gun
Road Speed: 50km/h (31mph)

Originally designed in the 1950's the T-62 has been widely exported all over the world. Used in the Soviet army until the 1970s it is still in use in many Middle eastern countries and African states.

Armament: 125mm smoothbore gun, NSV Heavy Machine Gun
Road Speed: 60km/h (37mph)

The latest Russian made main battle tank to be widely exported. It has a 125mm smoothbore gun capable of defeating most Main Battle Tanks' armour. This tank was the first MBT to have only three crew, as it is fitted with an autoloader negating the need for a human loader.
