The design of the ubiquitous UZI was inspired by the Czech M23 and 25 submachine gun. Like the M25, UZI is a recoil-operated, select fire submachine gun, firing from the open bolt which tends to reduce accuracy. Uzi and its variants (Mini UZI and Micro UZI) are simply the most popular SMGs in the World. Appearing in over 90 countries and used by Special Forces and Secret Services around the World, over 10 million have been manufactured
The Heckler & Koch submachine gun, MP-5, is one of the most famous and wide-spread firearms of its class. Developed since 1964, the SD3 version features an integral silencer and a retractable stock for compact carrying.
The success of the MP-5 with Police and Special Forces is outstanding. It is based on the robust reliability of the gun, pinpoint single-shot accuracy (due to its closed bolt action) and great flexibility.
The Ingram MAC M10/M11 are recoil-operated, select-fire submachine guns, that fire from open bolt. Both are compact and reliable weapons capable of phenomenal rates of fire. Their lightweight design and high fire rate contribute to relatively low accuracy and short effective range. Low bullet power reduces the risk of over-penetration, making the Ingram a useful weapon for close quarters hostage situations.
The premise behind the UMP was to create lightweight yet powerful submachine gun. The UMP is a blowback-operated select-fire submachine gun, with goods accuracy since its fired from the closed bolt. UMP can be fired in full-auto, in single shots, and in bursts. The UMP can accept wide variety of equipment, such as red-dot sights, laser pointers, tactical grips and flashlights. The barrel has quick mount for a snap-on silencer.
The P90 is a blowback operated, selective fire beast of a weapon. The 50 round magazine is located above the barrel, with the cartridges aligned at 90 degrees to the barrel. Each magazine has a built-in ramp that rotates each cartridge to align it with the barrel prior to chambering it. The P90 utilizes new SS190 ammunition that provides excellent close range penetration against body armour. Accurate and powerful, the excitable recoil is its only real weakness.
Part of the modular XM8 weapons family, the Compact version features a much smaller barrel. Modified ammo and excellent design make this a fearsome submachine gun. Though recoil is light and accuracy is second to none the XM8 Compact lacks the punch of the P90.
