Initially adopted as a versatile hunting shotgun, in the early 1970s the Remington 870 was introduced to the US Military. The M870 may be equipped with rifle-style or ghost-ring (peep) sights, with tactical flashlights and lasers. The older nature of the design results in heavy recoil, even when compared to more modern shotguns.
Developed in South Africa, with a specially modified version available in the US, the Streetsweeper shotgun has undergone a series of intelligent designs and redesigns. The Streetsweeper benefited from the design iteration process and now features a relatively rapid rate of fire and a more gentle recoil than almost all other competitor shotguns.
The Jackhammer is a gas operated, fully automatic, all-American shotgun. After 15 years of development, the political climate was such that the weapon was kept from mass-production in the late 1990s. Only a handful of prototypes exist within Special circles. The notable feature of the Jackhammer lies in its very low felt recoil.
